Dear Friends,

I am proud to announce that I am your next University of Colorado Regent for the Second Congressional District!

I want to thank my Republican and Libertarian opponents for the opportunity to open up the discussion about the importance of higher education.

All of your support and all of our efforts paid off -- we did it! It has been a long road to this point, but I am so thankful for all of the wonderful people I have met and the great discussions I've had along the way. My family and friends have been an invaluable resource, and I can't thank you all enough for your love and commitment to this goal.

I'll always remember the mother I met in Broomfield who told me, with tears in her eyes, that her talented son couldn't attend his dream school despite being admitted. Instead of attending CU-Boulder, her son is at the University of Wyoming because Wyoming's state support enables that school to keep tuition less than half the cost of CU. Unfortunately, hers is not the only family to have experienced this situation. Colorado students and families deserve better.

A college education is necessary in today's world, and every student who qualifies, no matter his or her economic background, should be able to get a college education at our public universities. I am more committed now than ever to improving the affordability and accessibility to quality public education in Colorado. I will work hard for you and for the University of Colorado.

Sincerely,
